Ellie Jane Goulding, born December 30, 1986 in Hereford England. Tracey Goulding Summers was her mother's employee at a grocery store. Arthur Goulding is the father. Goulding is the child of two with a brother called Alex and a sister who is older named Isabel and a younger sister called Jordan. Alex her brother plays bass as well as a part of an Hereford group. She was encouraged by her mother to learn music when she was a young girl. In the ninth grade she took up the clarinet. She began writing herself songs around the age of 14, but it wasn't until she went off to college that she really pursued writing songs. Goulding was interested in electronic music and dance as she was studying. Through MySpace she made contact with the record producer Frankmusik and with his help she created her kind of folktronica music. Jamie Lillywhite, a scout at the time who was also her manager for a time before assuming the A.&R part in university talent competitions, stumbled upon her.
